Hooves support the activity of blood circulation in the horse. The large surface of the hoof is accompanied by active
blood circulation. With each step, the surface of the hooves expands, activating optimal blood circulation. Harmful
substances and metabolic residues are excreted via the newly formed horn, which can be recognized by the rings or
discolorations in the horn. Thus, the hoof with its corium is a vitally important and metabolically active organ. With a
functioning hoof mechanism, the hoof metabolism is in balance. With restricted hoof mechanism, the blood
accumulates and can no longer support the activity of the blood circulation in the body. With restricted hoof mechanism
accompanied by reduced blood circulation, harmful substances and metabolic residues must be increasingly eliminated
from the body via the liver and kidneys.
